Five Worst Indianapolis Colts Injuries of the 2011 NFL Season

There’s no doubt that key injuries have prevented the from having a successful 2011 season. The team has lost players on both offense and defense, crippling their chances of winning and resulting in poor play. have really affected the Colts and if they return for the 2012 NFL season, there is a better chance at victory and an eventual return to the playoffs.

Since 1997, the Indianapolis Colts have relied on their all-star quarterback to provide proficient passing, team leadership and the skills to reach two Superbowls. A nagging neck injury forced a preseason surgery that has left him on the sidelines all season.

After starting 0-11, Manning’s importance was clearly proved more than ever. Hopefully when he returns, he can shake off the surgery rust and get back to playing excellent football.

The Colts offensive line is known for Dwight Freeny and , but Eric Foster is another driving force. There was nothing more exciting than seeing his swinging arm stomp after sacking a quarterback.

During the NFL Week 4 game against the , Foster broke his ankle in a painful tackle and had to be carted off the field. Showing his true spirit and dedication to the Colts, he was driven off as he riled his teammates up and encouraged them to keep playing.

Even if the offense is not at its peak, losing Dallas Clark for the second season in a row is not a good sign. Dallas Clark has not had the production that he is used to, but he still remains one of the most talented tight ends in the league.

is a good replacement, but Dallas Clark has been on the Colts for so many years that his presence on the field alone makes a huge difference.

Joesph Addai

The on and off injuries of Joesph Addai just add confusion to the running game. His injuries have made him inconsistent and the offense is struggling because of it. The Colts have resulted in swapping out multiple back-ups, but it looks like the postseason needs to consist of revamping the RB situation and possibly getting rid of Addai for good.

For the past two seasons, Melvin Bullitt has played in a total of six games due to injuries. The safety had a couple of stellar years with the Colts, but these past injuries have hindered his production greatly. Hopefully in 2012, Bullitt will come back and become an integral part of the Colts defense.

Will the Indianapolis Colts Win Their First Game This Week? Fan’s Preview

Can the finally win their first game? If they are destined to win this year, this will be the week. The Colts host the on November 13 in what is a very winnable football game. Colts fans have struggled to deal with playing without . At 0-9 on the season there are few chances left at getting a win. The 2-6 Jaguars present a great opportunity for them.

Indianapolis often gets beaten badly by Jacksonville’s running game. The Colts’ defense has been terrible at defending against the run. Frankly, the defense has been terrible at everything this year. . Only two teams in NFL history have been worse. This statistic is greatly affected by the to the . Colt fans have been subject to several blowout losses lately though.

One big reason the Colts can defeat the Jaguars is the poor play of quarterback . Gabbert has not played well at all in his rookie season. and will need to break out of their slumps and put pressure on Gabbert.

While they do have the look of an 0-16 team, every fan wants to see the team win at least one game. The talent is certainly there, they just need to put it all together for a full game. I think and hope that this is just the week.

Veteran center to address the team on their winless season. The players in the locker room are not used to losing and this shows that they still care and are certainly not tanking the season in hopes of the number one draft pick. As great as Andrew Luck may someday be, these players want to win badly and have too much pride to not give it everything they have in an attempt to win this season. Going 0-16 is an embarrassment and something no professional player wants on their resume.

I’m predicting the first win of the season this week for the Colts. They will finally rally behind the veterans on the team and win the game on a late field goal by veteran kicker . This will still keep the team in the suck for luck sweepstakes.

Prediction: Colts 20, Jaguars 17

They have been in playoff mode for three weeks now, and they’ll host the at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis Sunday at 4:15 EST.

The Colts (9-6) lead the in the AFC South by exactly one game. If Indy was to lose and Jacksonville was to win Sunday, then the Colts would fall short of the playoffs for the first time since 2001. Indy can also earn the No. 3 seed if they were to win and were to lose to .  for this game show us a line of Colts minus-9.5 over the with a total set of 48 points.

The own the longest consecutive playoff appearances from 1975 to 1983 with nine. That’s the team the Colts will try to match Sunday.

Indy has thrived in pressure games over the last three weeks, winning three straight games. It started with a 30-28 victory over this same Titans team, followed by a 34-24 victory over Jacksonville.

Indy took care of Oakland 31-26 on the road last week thanks to 191 rushing yards, which was the most they’ve run for since 2007.

Dominic Rhodes continues getting it done for the Colts. He was signed earlier this month and rushed for 98 yards on 17 carries against the Raiders. Joseph Addai also returned to action last week, playing in his first game since October 17 after sitting out due to a neck injury.

Addai added 45 yards on the ground and a score. The Colts also rushed for 155 yards the week before against Jacksonville, and their new-found running game has been the biggest difference in this team.

From Nov. 7 to Dec. 9, they averaged a mere 60 yards per game on the ground over six contests.

Peyton Manning overcame a season-low 179 passing yards and two interceptions last week by throwing three touchdowns passes. He hopes to return to the form he showed against Tennessee on Dec. 9, throwing for 319 yards and two touchdowns in their 30-28 triumph.

Titans QB Kerry Collins also had one of his better games in that contest, throwing for 244 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Collins became only the 12th player in NFL history to throw for at least 40,000 yards for his career with a 235-yard, two touchdown performance against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday.

Tennessee would go on to lose the game, 34-14, though.

Things looked promising for Tennessee (6-9) after their 5-2 start, but a six-game losing streak followed as they were never able to put the wheels back on.

The Titans have no missed the playoffs for the fifth time in seven years and head coach Jeff Fisher is firmly on the hot seat. Even with that said, Fisher plans to get a few younger guys on the field that don’t normally seem much playing time. Owner Bud Adams says he will evaluate Fisher at season’s end.

Indy is 6-1 in their last seven home meetings with the Titans, including two straight victories.

Projected Score: Colts 29, Titans 19
