The are coming off of a 2-14 season and have several important decisions to answer this offseason. Gone are Chris and Bill Polian and in is new general manager Ryan Grigson. Grigson will have several big decisions to make immediately that will impact the franchise going forward.
What to do with and earned yet another Pro Bowl selection. He finished the season with 43 tackles, nine and a half sacks, and three forced fumbles in 2011. I think Indianapolis should do everything they can to bring Mathis back for the remainder of his career. If the team is going to contend again, it will be with the duo of Mathis and Jim Caldwell. I strongly believe that if they are moving in a new era and if they really have to think this hard about it, Caldwell should be gone. He already needs a new special teams coach and possibly a new defensive coordinator. Offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen makes sense if Manning returns to maintain continuity, but if Manning is gone and the team goes in a new direction, they should start over with the coaching staff as well. This one will be a tough decision for Grigson and is one he and Irsay should make quickly.
