Colts dismiss Packers

Division rival Titans up next

The Indianapolis Colts went into the lions den that is Lambeau Field, survived a vintage Aaron Rodgers attempted comeback and walked out with a rare 31-26 victory.  This week, while the teams are not so much the same, the same intensity will be available for this division match up with the Tennessee Titans.

Playoff Football this week

Head Coach Chuck Pagano knows what a win this week for his team and colts-6he has been preaching playoff football in November.

“It’s playoff football, really,” Pagano told Jim Wyatt of the Titans official website.

The Titans, you see, have scored 35 or more points in their last three games and are averaging a league best 33.7 points per game.  Make no mistake, this game will be every bit as hard as the Packers on the road.

Colts host Chargers

WR Donte Moncrief out up to six weeks

The Indianapolis Colts (0-2, 3rd AFC South) will try and get a win this weekend as they host the San Diego Chargers (1-1,. 4th AFC West).  Andrew Luck has been working hard and has completed 52 of 87 attempts for 582 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception through two games.

The Colts will be without receiver Donte Moncrief for up to six weeks after fracturing his shoulder blade against the Broncos.  Surgery is not expected.

colts5The Chargers, who bounced back from a crazy loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in week one with a 38-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week and they should be stiff competition against the Colts.

Expect a high scoring affair

Both defenses are in need of some work so expect a high scoring affair from two of the most effective quarterbacks in the league.  Phillip Rivers is only four touchdown passes away from tying Johnny Unitas (290) for 10th  all-time in NFL history and is five shy of Warren Moon for ninth.

Colts ready for season opener

Detroit @ Indianapolis is a hot ticket

The Indianapolis Colts still have a few questions regarding their secondary with Vontae Davis out for two weeks possibly longer and Clayton Geathers not scheduled to be back until mid to late September. The team will have to rely on  Antonio Cromartie, Darius Butler, Darryl Morris and  T.J. Green until Davis and Geathers make it back.  The team have recently signed Rashaan Melvin to a defense that ranked 26th last season.

“It can be tough,” Safety Mike Adams said recently. “All our big colts-4players are not here. But the people in the room, we expect them to play at a high level. We have younger guys that are not use to having to be thrust into starting roles. But they have to prepared to take on those roles.”

“Our No. 1 corner, with Vonta out, and Pat [Robinson] is our No. 2, and he’s been out,” Head Coach Chuck Pagano said. “You can go on down the line. We’ve had some line issues. There’s nothing that we can do about it. We have to get healthy, and healthy in a hurry. Because the 11th [against Detroit] is going to be here before we know it.”
